This is a picture of two F15C single-seat all-weather air-superiority fighter based at RAF Lakenheath, from the viewing area some 1/4 of a mile away you can see these Strike Eagles making their way from the aircraft dispersal area along the peritrack to the holding area [where they are to be seen], groundcrew do many checks sometimes with guys up ladders under the aircraft, presumably the aircrew are working in conjunction with these guys [two seaters are F15E's mainlly although there are some variants] the time on the dispersal to the holding area is as much as 45 minutes before 2, 3 or 4 move on to the taxiway again and within seconds select afterburners on and with a terrific roar off they jolly well go

The wires you see across the runway are arrester wires, only used on the non take off end unless an emergency is declared
